Position Summary

The Associate Dean of Assessment supports the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation in developing and executing the strategic vision and plan for assessment, program review, and student learning improvement processes. The Associate Dean works with faculty, leadership, and staff to develop effective strategies for the assessment of student learning outcomes and core objectives. Additionally, the Associate Dean facilitates activity surrounding the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of learning outcomes and core objective data for assigned academic schools. Finally, the Associate Dean provides ongoing support for program review and learning improvement activities, assists with the analysis of assessment methods and results, and reports results to both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated skill or experience collaborating and working effectively with college faculty.

  • Skilled at written and verbal communication, interpersonal communication, and problem- solving.

  • Knowledge of how assessment and program review can lead to curriculum enhancement and student learning improvement.

  • Knowledge of higher education accreditation standards and processes pertaining to assessment and program review.

  • Knowledge of best practices in learning outcomes and core objectives assessment.

  • Knowledge of taxonomies used in the development of learning outcomes.

  • Able to work independently and use professional judgement in decision-making, as well as work collaboratively on a team.

  • Able to manage multiple projects and work within deadlines.

  • Able to think strategically and innovatively, creating effective plans and sustainable workflows.

  • Able to implement new and/or improve existing processes to impact organizational performance and stakeholder satisfaction

  • Able to explain assessment processes and outcomes in a way that is easy to understand.

  • Able to understand the purpose and components of a rubric to assess student learning.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a higher education environment.

  • Demonstrated facilitation and/or training experience.

  • Experience with data collection and analysis and generating written summaries and reports.

  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as a primary support for faculty in conducting learning outcomes assessment and using assessment results to improve student learning.

  • Communicates regularly across the college to ensure transparency and clarity related to assessment activities.

  • Develops training materials and facilitates training sessions on the assessment process.

  • Assists faculty with planning, research, data collection, analysis, and loop-closing related to assessment, outcomes, and student learning improvement.

  • Provides faculty support at campuses and online.

  • Summarizes assessment findings and develops reports for collegewide use.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
