Job Description:

General Statement of Duties:

The Assistant Dean provides support to the Academic Affairs division and serves as a member of the academic leadership at Mount Wachusett Community. The Assistant Dean works closely and collaboratively with all members of the Academic Affairs team, as well as with other constituencies within the College to advance the strategic vision of the institution, while keeping a focus on student success, equity and collegiality.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and processes the hiring and onboarding of adjunct faculty in conjunction with the division deans and the department chairs;
  • Prepares contracts in compliance with terms of collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for adjunct faculty while implementing and maintaining seniority lists and compensation steps within the budgetary parameters set for the operation;
  • Prepares and submits required adjunct instructor information to the Union and creates and distributes forms required by the CBA to the adjunct faculty;
  • Coordinates request-to-teach submissions in collaboration with the divisional offices;
  • Collaborates with Human Resources in the preparation of pertinent full-time faculty lists (evaluations, seniority, tenure and promotion, etc.)
  • Collaborates with other members of the Academic Affairs team in the search, recruitment and hire of staff within the division.
  • Oversees the course scheduling of summer and evening courses in cooperation with the divisional deans;
  • Error-checks semester schedule before publication;
  • Monitors ongoing course enrollment numbers for additional section creation or cancellation;
  • Oversees the organization of Professional Development days and other events offered by Academic Affairs as needed;
  • Assists in the development, signature and archiving of articulation agreements;
  • Coordinates student evaluations in compliance with CBA requirements;
  • Triages non-standard transfer and credit for prior learning requests;
  • Collaborates in the communication management for the division;
  • Manages the application, budgeting and reporting of the Perkins grant for the college;
  • Collaborates with the office of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment in the deployment of instruments and data projects, as needed;
  • Participates in and provides support for the development of grants at the division and college level;
  • Shares in the institutional responsibility of creating and fostering inclusive learning and working environments;
  • Other duties as assigned by the SVPAA.

 


Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree;
  • Three years of college-level progressive administrative experience; preferably in a community college setting;
  • Experience and familiarity with remote learning and related methods of delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience with change management, specifically with regard to social and racial equity.
  • Experience in budget development and grant administration;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy of a mission-driven community college, broad-based institutional planning, participative management, and student development and success issues;
  • Proficiency in oral and written expression, utilizing technology to produce professional presentations and reports.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, administrators, and staff to enhance student success, promote faculty development and achieve institutional goals;
  • Demonstrated strong and responsive interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a collective bargaining organized environment.

  • Passion for and understanding of the mission of public community colleges and their focus toward student success;
  • Ability to foster in self and others the traits and qualities required to lead through institutional culture change;
  • Commitment to community engagement with multiple stakeholders, including K-12 partners, regional chambers of commerce, non-profit service agencies, regional business community, etc.;
  • Collaborative approach to working with all college divisions, programs and personnel.

Additional Information:


Salary: $82,000.00-$90,000.00
